Established
in 1915, the California Community foundation administers
charitable funds for
philanthropically minded individuals, corporations and nonprofit
organizations. With more than 1,000 funds and $600 million in
assets, the foundation distributed grants in excess of $54
million in fiscal year 2002-2003 to nonprofit organizations
throughout Los Angeles County. Grants from the community
foundation's various funding initiatives address important
community issues in the areas of animal welfare, arts and
culture, early education, employment, health and neighborhood
revitalization.

Pre-professional residential training program for talented high
school students in the visual, performing and literary arts,
film and animation who are aspiring to careers in the arts and
entertainment industries. Students are selected from 2,500
secondary schools in the state. This public-private partnership
initiative has operated for 18 years.
