by professional basketball star Kara Wolters, has a mission of creating and supporting programs
related to the rehabilitation of patients suffering from brain tumors, as well as contributing
targeted funds for brain tumor education and research.
The
La'Roi Glover Foundation
was established by Dallas Cowboys football player La'Roi Glover
to benefit children in the cities where he
has lived and played. His interests range from providing scholarship awards at the high school and
University levels, to support the Children's Hospital in
New
Orleans.
The Max Schloss Foundation for Pediatric
Genetic Diseases was established to eradicate terminal genetic diseases. The Foundation
aims to increase public awareness and correct misconceptions about pediatric genetic
diseases. It intends to use funds to support pre-natal genetic
testing for financially disadvantaged people,
to improve education relating to the importance of genetic screening and to supplement research
in finding cures.
The
Mellanby Autism Foundation
was established by professional hockey player Scott
Mellanby and his wife Susan. The goals of the
foundation are to financially aid research in finding a cause and a cure for autism. The Mellanbys
also want the foundation to help fund existing programs that can enhance the quality of life for
autistic people.
The
Nancy Kerrigan Foundation
was established by Olympic ice-skating champion Nancy
Kerrigan and her husband Jerry Solomon to
fund organizations that support the vision impaired.
The
Pearl Sinn-Bonanni Foundation,
15 year LPGA tour veteran, established the Pearl Sinn-Bonanni to support various charities. She
has selected Opportunity
Schools,
an educational, non
profit organization that unlocks the hidden
potential of students with learning challenges, as this year's beneficiary.
